Russia has used drones in the Pokrovsk region to create a so-called gray area. This area is 20–30 kilometers long. Battles there are very complex.
Ivask says that Russia uses drones extensively. They make troop movement, supply, and maneuvering more difficult. Russia wants to bring Pokrovsk under its control, but the Ukrainians are offering strong resistance.
Movement in the gray area depends on weather and light. Although drones monitor everything that moves, they are not perfect. Ivask notes that drones have changed the course of battles, but they also have shortcomings.
Ivask says that Russia has not achieved much success in Pokrovsk. The Ukrainians have prepared and fortified themselves well. The situation is very volatile: a building can be captured one day and lost the next.
Ukraine sent special forces to the region because the Russian army is using new tactics. Russian troops move in small groups in civilian clothes. Regular troops cannot handle them. Therefore, special forces are needed who can fight such groups.
