EKRE Wants Support for Private Schools in Pärnu

Vahe on 46 eurot.
Pulk ütleb: „Me palume, et linn maksaks selle 46 eurot õpilase kohta. Seda raha saaksid koolid kasutada .“
Pärnu üldhariduskoolides õpib üle 7700 õpilase. Nendest . „See oleks vaid 1,56% tulumaksust.

EKRE wants the city of Pärnu to pay operating grants to four private general education schools. They submitted a new proposal to the city council.

Member of the EKRE faction Agnes Pulk says that support is necessary for private general education schools. According to her, municipal schools receive more money from the state than private schools.
In April, EKRE submitted a proposal to the council that the city would pay the missing part for private schools. The state provides 155 euros per student to municipal schools, but only 109 euros to private schools. The difference is 46 euros.
Pulk says: "We are asking that the city pay this 46 euros per student. This money could be used by schools for teaching and education-related work."
There are over 7,700 students in Pärnu's general education schools. 10% of them attend private schools. Pulk says that the amount of money would not be significant for the city. It could be paid from income tax. "It would be only 1.56% of income tax. The city of Pärnu could handle it," said Pulk.
The director of Sütevaka Humanitaargümnaasium, Andres Laanemets, said that financial support from the local government is necessary. "We have done a lot of work and taken loans to build school buildings. We are creating good conditions for Pärnu's children and families, but we are not being treated equally," he said.
Laanemets, for example, said that municipal schools have free programs in museums, but private schools have to pay for them. Also, the use of sports facilities is expensive.
Other private schools in Pärnu – Pärnu Kristlik Erakool, Pärnu Waldorfkool, and Pärnu Vabakool – also said that support is necessary.
If the proposal receives approval in the committee, the council will start discussing it at the May session.
