The Cultural Committee is seeking three new members for ERR's council. Currently, there are four experts in the council, but the new law requires that there should be more experts than politicians.
The chair of the Cultural Committee, Liina Kersna, said that the new members must receive support from both the committee and the Riigikogu. The formation of a minority government will not affect the election of new members.
Kersna noted that the law was supported by both the coalition and the opposition. Therefore, there should be no problems in finding new members.
Increasing the number of experts will help ensure ERR's independence. Currently, the influence of politicians is too great.
The Cultural Committee is looking for candidates with knowledge and experience. They should help ERR fulfill its tasks.
Currently, there are four experts in the council. Applications can be submitted until September 7. The Riigikogu will make the final decision.
