Eesti 200 and the Estonian Greens are discussing merging. They are also talking about running together in the spring parliamentary elections.
Eesti 200 will discuss merging with the Greens and the elections at their council meeting on Sunday. Eesti 200 chairman Kristina Kallas said she will propose to go to the elections together with the Greens at the council meeting. She did not want to specify what the political plans are.
The Greens will discuss merging at their general assembly. It will take place at the end of October. Greens leader Rasmus Lahtvee said that the exact date is not yet set, but they will definitely discuss merging with Eesti 200.
Lahtvee said that they have talked about different options and common ground. He said that something needs to change in Estonian politics. The decision to merge must be made at the general assembly.
Lahtvee also said that more serious merger negotiations could begin in November. The president will announce the elections by December 6th at the latest.
Eesti 200's support is very low. According to a Norstat survey, only 1.2 percent of people support them. An Emor poll showed that in September, Eesti 200 had 1.9 percent support and the Greens had 1.1 percent.
