Esmaspäeval algab uus kooliaasta

A New School Year Begins on Monday

Tänavu alustab kooliteed umbes 14 000 õpilast. Kaks neist on Mirjam ja Karl Gustav. Nad alustasid kooli juba nädala eest Tartu Katoliku Hariduskeskuses. Mirjam ütleb: "See kool on ilus ja rahulik." Karl Gustav lisab: "Mu vend on ka siin koolis ja mulle meeldib õpetaja, sest ta ei pahanda ja ta on ka ilus."

Mirjam rääkis oma esimesest koolipäevast: "Hommikul tulin kooli ja tulin enda klassi juurde, viisin õpetajale lilled ja otsisin kleepsu järgi endale koha." Karl Gustav sõnas: "Mulle meeldis ka , kus sa pidid enda nime ütlema ja said kommi."

Karl Gustav soovib teistele koolilastele: "Head õnne!" Mirjam lisab: "Head rõõmu ja toredust ja !"

Septembris on uus algus ka paljudele uutele õpetajatele. Indrek Arumets hakkab õpetama Kanepi gümnaasiumis matemaatikat ja programmeerimist. Tema sõnul: "Varem töötasin na. Seal tundsin, et läks kuidagi üksluiseks ja päevad hakkasid korduma. Kuna mul elukaaslane on ka õpetaja, siis olen seda tööd kõrvalt näinud ja tundus päris põnev – iga päev on midagi uut, annad ühiskonnale midagi tagasi ja saad ise ka koos õpilastega areneda."

Nii Indrek Arumets kui ka Ilmatsalu põhikooli matemaatikaõpetaja Helena Liis Paavel ütlesid, et neid ei heiduta. Helena Liis rääkis: "Kasvõi mingid pisikesed kollektiivid saavad kokku võtta ennast või mitu kooli saavad teha näiteks kindla aine õpetajate mingisugused rühmad. Ei pea ju kõiki töölehti või kontrolltöid nö üksi pusima, alati saab ."

Helena Liis Paavel lisas: "Võiks ju õpetajaid rohkem väärtustada küll. Tegelikult me ju muudame väikeste inimeste, noorte elus nii palju. Meil on see ."

Eesti on üle 14 000 õpetaja kohta. Neis kohtades töötab üle 17 000 õpetaja.

This year, around 14,000 students will start their school journey in the first grade. Two of them are Mirjam and Karl Gustav. They began school a week ago at the Tartu Catholic Education Center. Mirjam says: "This school is beautiful and peaceful." Karl Gustav adds: "My brother is also at this school, and I like the teacher because she doesn't get angry and she's also beautiful."

Mirjam talked about her first school day: "In the morning, I came to school and went to my classroom, brought flowers to the teacher, and found my seat using a sticker." Karl Gustav said: "I also liked the morning circle where you had to say your name and got candy."

Karl Gustav wishes other students: "Good luck!" Mirjam adds: "Joy and fun and a thirst for learning!"

September also marks a new beginning for many new teachers. Indrek Arumets will start teaching mathematics and programming at Kanepi Gymnasium. He says: "I used to work as a software developer. There, I felt it was somehow getting monotonous, and the days started to repeat themselves. Since my partner is also a teacher, I've seen this work from the side and it seemed quite exciting – every day there's something new, you give something back to society, and you also develop together with the students."

Both Indrek Arumets and Helena Liis Paavel, a math teacher at Ilmatsalu Basic School, said that the heavy workload does not discourage them. Helena Liis said: "Even small groups can come together, or several schools can form groups for specific subjects. You don't have to struggle with all the worksheets or tests alone, you can always collaborate."

Helena Liis Paavel added: "Teachers could definitely be valued more. We actually change so much in the lives of young people. We have this responsibility."

There are over 14,000 teaching positions in Estonian general education schools. Over 17,000 teachers work in these positions.
