From Lake Peipus to Narva-Jõesuu, there are 70 kilometers of water. Although the weather is hot, swimming is not allowed there. Border guards ensure that no one violates the swimming ban.

Only one official swimming spot is established on the border river. This is the Narva Joaoru beach. However, locals do not love this place. It is a small pond where even the city authorities do not wish to swim.
Another swimming spot is located at the mouth of the Narva River. There, the waters warm up by 10 degrees from the sea. This spot is semi-official. There are no lifeguards or rescue services.
People visit there regularly. They swim, but they do so only at their own risk. If someone swims, it is prohibited.
This summer, the Border Guard identified 30 violations of the swimming ban. The largest fine was €600. Usually, only a warning is given.
