Open Fishing Ports Day took place in Estonia. Visitors got to see 20 different ports, both by the sea and lakeside. Over 300 people visited the Mustvee port. They tried fish and also bought some to take home.
Laidi Zalekešina, the cultural manager of Mustvee, was pleased. She said the sun was shining and the weather was lovely. The first fishing boat arrived at the port early in the morning. By midday, there were many people at the port. They bought different kinds of fish.
The people of Avinurme mainly bought perch. One resident, Eiki, said that perch is great, although vendace is not yet available. Vasknarva fisherman Vadim sold 100 kilos of perch and 100 kilos of vendace in three hours. He explained that the fish is always fresh.
In addition to the ports, the Peipsiääre cellars and storerooms were also opened. Visitors got to see how fish is prepared and stored. Everyone was happy and enjoyed the day.
