Arnold Sinisalu is the former head of the Security Police. He says that the Supreme Court's decision brings legal peace. This decision left unchanged the acquittal of former police chiefs.
Sinisalu said that everyone must accept the court's decision. He added that making a court decision is a complex process. It is not as simple as in mathematics. He advised interested people to read the case materials.
Sinisalu said that he does not believe this case was related to personal relationships. He mentioned that the Security Police could have initiated the proceedings immediately but did not do so. The prosecution acted as a filter in this case.
Sinisalu also said that he did not see any Security Police employee being happy about this proceeding. He stated that initiating proceedings against colleagues is very unpleasant.
Sinisalu said that the Security Police tried to avoid criminal proceedings in 2022-2023. He noted that in hindsight, it is easy to say what could have been done differently.
Sinisalu said that he regrets they had to conduct this proceeding. But he emphasized that it was their duty.
The Supreme Court left unchanged the acquittal of former police chiefs. This case concerned the determination of police pensions.
