The Narva City Development and Economics Department and the Tallinn-based architecture firm Molumba signed a contract on February 12 for the design of a new primary school building in the Narva Soldina district.
The cost of the design, including VAT, is nearly €800,000. The authors of the project are the creators of the winning architectural competition entry "Ristik": Karli Luik, Johan Tali, Maarja Elm, Harri Kaplan, and Joosep Pärn.
The new school will be built on Mõisa Street. It is located on the site of the Soldino School, which closed in 2024, and the Väikevend kindergarten, which ceased operations in 2015. The demolition of these buildings and the preparation of the site are currently in the final stages.
The city of Narva has announced that the new school will accommodate up to 734 students. It will also cater to students with special and enhanced support needs.
Students from Narva Pähklimäe School, Narva 6th School, and Narva Paju School will be relocated to the new school. The new school must be ready for use by September 1, 2029, at the latest.
The estimated total cost of the project is €20 million. Of this, €16.9 million will be funded by the Ministry of Education and Research. Additionally, the state has allocated nearly €3 million in additional funding for the project.
