The former members of NGO Slava Ukraini did not file a lawsuit against Johanna-Maria Lehtme. They decided to liquidate the NGO. Ilmar Raag, who was on the NGO's council, said that the Tartu County Court appointed him as the liquidator.
The majority of members left the NGO. The remaining members still want to file a lawsuit. They want Lehtme to compensate for the damage. Raag said this is an important example for others.
Raag wants to analyze what happened with the NGO. He said there were both crimes and management mistakes there. However, results must be awaited, as lawyers need to review the materials.
The prosecutor's office says that Lehtme caused damage exceeding €450,000. She failed to fulfill her duties. If she had been honest, the damage would not have occurred. The punishment could be up to two years in prison.
The Ukrainian court found Oleksandr Chernov guilty. He exposed fraud at Slava Ukraini. Raag believes this was unfair. He thinks Chernov was retaliated against.
Raag said Estonia should help Chernov. Chernov suffered through two years in court. He exposed important matters. Raag hopes Estonia will support justice.
