The Veterinary and Food Board (PTA) has detected African swine fever on a farm in Viljandi. There are 250 pigs living there. PTA has ordered all pigs to be culled.
PTA has imposed strict rules on the farm. People and vehicles are not allowed to move freely. PTA asks people to assist the officials.
PTA is organizing cleaning and disinfection on the farm. After this, the premises can be used again.
The authority says that only PTA-authorized people are allowed to enter. Traffic around the farm may be difficult.
African swine fever was last detected in Põlva County. There were 6,700 pigs living there. This year, the disease has been found in eight locations.
PTA recommends owners to monitor the health of their animals. In case of suspicion, call a veterinarian or PTA.
