The reconstruction of Hipodroomi intersection begins this spring. It will change Paldiski maantee and Endla tänav. Work will also extend to Mooni tänav.
The construction will take place in two phases. This will help traffic flow better. Some cars will use alternative streets.
Funding for the works is provided by Reterra Estate and Alfa Property. The total project cost is 11.6 million euros.
The intersection will be connected to the new Hipodroomi quarter. Roads and paths will be modified up to Mooni tänav. New roads will improve traffic flow.
Reigo Randmets says the new left turn will simplify traffic. It leads towards the city center, Old Town, and Kalamaja.
The intersection will get new lighting and greenery. District heating, water, and sewage pipes will also be renewed.
Green islands and landscaping will make the area more beautiful. It will be safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
All work will be completed by autumn 2027. The first phase will be finished this year, the second phase in 2027.
The internal roads of Hipodroomi quarter are almost ready. The tunnel and Merimetsa tee will be completed in 2026. Hipodroomi tänav will be finished in autumn 2026.
The total project cost exceeds 30 million euros. Tallinna Vesi and Utilitas are also contributing funds.
