The Ministry of Defense is making a plan for a new industrial park. The plan may be ready by the end of August.
The government will discuss it a week later. Then the government will decide if the plan is good. The government may approve the plan on August 21.
Companies want to join the park. 12 companies offered their services. Nine companies are still discussing funding. Half of the companies are from Estonia, half from abroad. The government will know in August which companies will succeed.
Work in the park will begin in 2026 or 2027. The park is located in Ermistu, near Pärnu. If there is no space, the park may move to North Kiviõli.
Companies will invest in the park. A total of 300–400 million euros may be raised. With this money, 300–400 new jobs will be created.
The government has also established a new company. The company, named Hexest Materials AS, will build an explosives factory. The industrial park is necessary for Estonia to produce its own weapons. During a crisis, it is difficult to acquire weapons from abroad.
The government is providing 50 million euros. This money will go towards building the infrastructure for the new industrial park.
