Raadiomaja on mitukümmend sentimeetrit vajunud
The radio building has subsided several tens of centimeters
ERR-i raadiomaja on aja jooksul vajunud ja ehitajad kasutavad nüüd spetsiaalset tehnoloogiat, et hoida ära edasist vajumist.
The ERR radio building has subsided over time, and builders are now using special technology to prevent further subsidence.
The radio building located on Gonsiori Street has subsided 30 centimeters. During the construction of the new television building, further subsidence of the radio building must be prevented.
Builders are using a special technique. They are pumping cement under the radio building. This method is still new in Estonia. Builder Martin Vaga says it will help prevent future subsidence.
Cement is pumped under high pressure to a depth of 15 to 16 meters. This creates a new foundation under the building. This is called grout injection.
Next to the construction site is the Härjapea River branch, Mardi Creek. It is directed into a special pipe. Water flows through this pipe even from Lasnamäe.
Builders are using special metal plates to prevent the pipe from breaking. In addition, concrete piles are used to keep the building stable.
Has the radio building subsided evenly? Builder Martin Vaga confirms that the building has subsided evenly. He says the building has not tilted.
