Riina Solman, Isamaa leader in Tallinn, met with representatives of the Conservative People's Party and the Reform Party on Wednesday. She said the meetings were very constructive.
Solman stated that Isamaa's goal is to ensure open and honest discussions. In her opinion, the other parties understood Isamaa's objectives. Solman thanked the Centre Party and the Conservative People's Party for their responses.
Solman added that Isamaa still needs to meet with the Centre Party. After that, Isamaa will decide on further steps. Solman did not say when the Isamaa board would convene.
Solman said the Isamaa board is united. They will meet over the weekend or online if necessary. They will set a schedule for further steps.
Solman suggested that the mayoral position could go to either Mihhail Kõlvart or Jevgeni Ossinovski. She said this would be logical.
Lavly Perling, leader of the Conservative People's Party, said the meeting with Isamaa was routine. The Conservative People's Party still needs to negotiate with the Social Democratic Party. Perling said negotiations can begin once all four parties come to the table.
Perling added that Isamaa said after meeting with the Social Democrats that common ground exists. In her view, this common ground cannot be right-wing. The Conservative People's Party wants to pursue right-wing policies.
Maris Lauri, a representative of the Reform Party, said the meeting with Isamaa was constructive and friendly. They discussed Tallinn's problems and possible solutions. Lauri did not highlight any disagreements. She said the differences are not very significant.
Lauri believes forming a coalition with Isamaa is possible. She said their common ground is substantial enough.
Although the election results are already known, it is still unclear who will start coalition negotiations. The Centre Party made a proposal to Isamaa. Isamaa is also considering a coalition with the Social Democrats, the Reform Party, and the Conservative People's Party. Isamaa has not yet made a decision.
