Urmas Sõõrumaa is the Reform Party's candidate for Mayor of Tallinn. He wants to create a new city government without politicians. He said that the city government should be technocratic. This means that decisions are made by experts, not politicians.
Sõõrumaa spoke with two parties - the Center Party and Eesti 200. The Center Party does not want official cooperation, but they support peace in city management. They also want free kindergartens and Estonian-language education.
Sõõrumaa said that he can now talk to more people. He wants to know what others think and what they want. He said that they can create a work plan based on technocracy.
Sõõrumaa hopes that the new city government will reach a good agreement. He wants the work to be good and clear. He said that technocratic management is successful, for example, in Helsinki.
Sõõrumaa believes that there are currently too many deputy mayors. He wants to reduce their number to two to four. He wants to propose to all parties to support a technocratic government.
Cooperation with the Social Democrats has not yet progressed. Sõõrumaa has not yet spoken with EKRE. Toomas Kruusimägi, the chairman of the Tallinn City Council, said that the current mayor's no-confidence vote could take place after the Song Festival.
