Prime Minister Kristen Michal said that Estonia can help Latvia with the construction of Rail Baltica. According to him, the railway needs to be completed by 2030.
Michal said that one-third of the railway is already under construction in Estonia. According to him, the Estonian section will be completed by 2026. If needed, Estonia can also build in Latvia.
Latvia has problems with the construction of the railway. There is not enough money and preparations. Michal said that the European Union should provide more funding for this.
Estonia needs an additional 400–500 million euros for the railway. But Michal believes that Estonia can obtain this money from other European Union funds.
Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina said that all three countries should oversee Rail Baltica. She has political problems because Latvian elections are coming soon.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas said that 140 km of railway will be completed in Lithuania this year. He believes that the entire railway will be ready by 2030. If needed, the countries will help each other.
Latvia does not have the money to build the railway towards Estonia. Therefore, there is no deadline either.
