Pelguranna trammitee tekitab kohalike seas endiselt muret
The Pelguranna tram line continues to cause concern among locals
Tallinna plaanitav trammitee Pelguranda tekitab endiselt muret kohalike elanike seas. Peamiselt kardetakse müra ja vibratsiooni kasvu või ei olda nõus trammi tagasipöördekohaga Stroomi rannas.
The planned tram line in Pelguranna, Tallinn, continues to cause concern among local residents. Mainly, there is fear of increased noise and vibration, or disagreement with the tram's turnaround point at Stroomi beach.
The Pelguranna tram line project has caused much concern among local residents. Residents are afraid that the tram will create more noise and vibration. Also, many are not happy with the tram's turnaround at Stroomi beach.
Resident Helmi says: 'Ambulances, fire trucks, and police have no room to move. Now Putukaväil is completely asphalted. Why are we destroying nature? Health is the most important.'
Another resident, Tatjana, is worried about the impact of the tram line construction on old houses. She knows that the tram creates a lot of noise because she has lived on Tartu Road. 'In the morning, the tram wakes you up. By five o'clock, you're already up,' said Tatjana.
City representatives say they are trying to reduce tram noise. They have conducted studies, involved engineers, and looked at foreign experiences. 'We have six options for noise reduction. For example, we will place noise-damping mats under the tram tracks,' said Toomas Haidak, head of the environmental department.
The tram will run along Puhangu Street, and its final stop will be at Stroomi beach. The tram's turnaround at Stroomi beach has raised many questions. Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski said: 'At the end of Puhangu Street, there are three different options for the tram turnaround. We do not exclude any of them. Each option has its pros and cons.'
Ossinovski added that residents should not worry about the reduction of bus lines. The tram has high capacity and reduces traffic load. The city confirms that Puhangu Street will be completely reconstructed to accommodate all commuters.
The Pelguranna tram is expected to start operating in 2029. The construction of the tram line will cost 28 million euros.
