Health Board initiates national supervisory procedure regarding Järvamaa Hospital
Terviseamet on alustanud riiklikku järelevalvemenetlust Järvamaa haigla suhtes. Endised ja praegused töötajad esitasid kaebuse haigla peaarsti Külvar Mandi kohta.
The Health Board has initiated a national supervisory procedure regarding Järvamaa Hospital. Former and current employees have filed a complaint against the hospital's chief physician, Külvar Mand.
In April, the program 'Pealtnägija' discussed the criticism from employees of Järvamaa Hospital. Employees claimed that the situation at the hospital became unbearable when Külvar Mand became the chief physician.
Employees spoke about the chief physician's inconsiderate behavior towards colleagues. They also claimed that Mand proposed an illegal scheme. Through this scheme, he wanted to avoid paying the legally required 1.5 times overtime rate. Additionally, he allowed students to treat patients under his name.
The Health Board's communication manager Imre Kaas told ERR that the Health Board has now initiated a national supervisory procedure. The procedure will investigate the complaints made about Järvamaa Hospital. 'Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the details of the procedure,' Kaas added.
On April 9, dissatisfied former and current employees sent a summary of their complaints to the hospital council. It was signed by 17 people.
Two weeks ago, Külvar Mand told 'Pealtnägija' that these are fabricated complaints from a few laid-off and dismissed individuals. He claimed that students are used as assistant doctors in the hospital, but they do not work alone. He also denied any inconsiderate behavior towards female colleagues.
Regarding overtime pay, Mand said that all hospitals are currently in the same situation. Due to healthcare funding, it is not possible to pay 1.5 times the overtime rate. The hospital is seeking a compromise so that everyone can continue working.
