There is a problem at Elva Gymnasium. The admission procedure is not in accordance with the law. Currently, interviews are being conducted with students. The school director wants to stop the interviews. Teachers do not want this.
Director Marek Sammul is no longer working. He asked teachers to say which students are bad. He asked them to do this secretly. Teachers want Sammul to become director again. They wrote to the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education does not know if the director's departure was correct. But the ministry says the admission procedure is wrong. "There are mistakes in the admission procedure," said a ministry representative.
Currently, interviews are being conducted with 200 students. These interviews are not correct. Deputy director Marek Pihlak says they will correct the mistakes. "Everything will be in order by June 9," he said.
Teachers do not want to stop the interviews. "The interviews are fair," said teacher Johannes Must. The school and the municipality will discuss the problem on Friday.
The Ministry of Education will check the admission procedures of other schools. This will help avoid problems.
