Miks te otsustasite poliitikast ära minna? Kas te ei näinud Reformierakonnal tulevikku? President pakkus mulle head tööd. Ma olen olnud poliitikas 12 aastat. Viimased aastad on olnud väga väsitavad. Ma tahan teha midagi muud, mida olen varem teinud. Ma ei lähe poliitikast kaugemale.
Millist tulemust te loote Reformierakonnal näha? Valimised on veel kaugel. Kõik võib kiiresti muutuda. Meil on tugev meeskond ja häid mõtteid. Eestil on vaja liberaalset erakonda. Paljud inimesed tahavad seda. Kõik erakonnad peaksid olema esindatud.
Kas te räägite maksudest? Kriisid on muutnud inimesi rahutuks. Kriisid on olnud kogu maailmas. Valitsused on teinud . Tihti pole neid hästi selgitatud. Koalitsioonides tuleb teha kompromisse. Mõnikord jääb kõige suurem süü Reformierakonnale.
Kas praegu selgitatakse paremini? Ma ei ole kuulnud otseseid süüdistusi. Erakonnadel on erinevad arvamused. Nad vaidlevad ja arutavad. See on normaalne. Kõik ei saa alati kokku leppida.
Mis on teie suurim saavutus poliitikas? Üks oluline muutus on . Selle üle vaidleti väga kaua. Nüüd on kõik rahul. Üks teine tähtis asi on . See keskus aitab analüüsida Eesti tulevikku.
Millist nõu annate Reformierakonnal? Valimistel tuleks mõelda Eesti paremale tulevikuks. Rahakingitused ei too hääli. Inimesed mõistavad seda. .
Kuidas te saate presidendile abiks olla? President peab selgitusi andma majandusteemades. Ma saan aidata neid mõista ja selgitada. President peab suutma rääkida erinevate inimestega.
Maris Lauri is becoming the president's economic advisor. She has been a member of parliament and also a minister. She said that politics has emotionally exhausted her.
Why did you decide to leave politics? Did you not see a future for the Reform Party? The president offered me a good job. I have been in politics for 12 years. The last few years have been very exhausting. I want to do something else that I have done before. I am not moving far from politics.
What result do you hope to see for the Reform Party? The elections are still far away. Everything can change quickly. We have a strong team and good ideas. Estonia needs a liberal party. Many people want this. All parties should be represented.
Are you talking about taxes? Crises have made people restless. Crises have been happening all over the world. Governments have made tough decisions. Often they have not been well explained. In coalitions, compromises have to be made. Sometimes the biggest blame falls on the Reform Party.
Is it being explained better now? I have not heard direct accusations. Parties have different opinions. They argue and discuss. This is normal. Not everyone can always agree.
What is your biggest achievement in politics? One important change is marriage equality. It was debated for a very long time. Now everyone is satisfied. Another important thing is the Monitoring Center for Development. This center helps analyze Estonia's future.
What advice do you give to the Reform Party? In elections, one should think about Estonia's better future. Handouts do not bring votes. People understand this. The Reform Party must help weaker people.
How can you help the president? The president must provide explanations on economic topics. I can help them understand and explain. The president must be able to talk to different people.
