Isamaa has decided to take its time. They are considering with whom to form a coalition in Tallinn. They may form an alliance either with the Center Party or with four parties. The four-party alliance would include the Social Democrats, the Reform Party, and the conservatives.
Aleksei Jašin, deputy chairman of Eesti 200, says that taking time is strategic. It will help decide which option is better for the 2027 elections.
Jašin also says that there are differing opinions within Isamaa. Some support an alliance with the Social Democrats, Reform Party, and conservatives. Others support an alliance with the Center Party.
Isamaa's choice is not easy. Both options have pros and cons. An alliance with the Center Party would bring reputational risks, but Isamaa would get more important positions in Tallinn. A four-party alliance would bring fewer positions, but Isamaa would gain a lot in negotiations.
Raimond Kaljulaid, a member of the Riigikogu, says that a four-party coalition is not easy. The previous such coalition in Tallinn did not go well.
Jüri Ratas, the former mayor, says that Isamaa must carefully consider with whom to form a coalition. National topics need to be discussed.
Isamaa has previously wanted to discuss national topics at the local level. For example, they wanted to change voting rights. Kaljulaid believes that Isamaa should do so this time as well.
