Over the weekend, hundreds of women attended a camp in Rapla County. The camp was called "Be Prepared". Here, they were taught first aid, the use of weapons, and more.
The camp was organized by the Women's Home Defense Rapla district. This is the tenth time the camp has been held. This time, 231 women and children participated. In addition, there were a dozen caterers.
Kersti Ojamets, the head of the Women's Home Defense Rapla district, said that the camp helps women learn to help themselves. This is important for the whole society.
All the women came to the camp voluntarily. Many came on the recommendation of friends. Although they do not belong to the Defense League or the Women's Home Defense, they wanted to contribute to national defense.
One woman learned to use a fire extinguisher and other skills at the camp. Another woman said she is afraid of war. She came to the camp to gain more knowledge.
Lea Edminster from Rapla said that women have a big role in national defense. She believes that if men do not defend Estonia, then women will.
