Tallinn mayor Peeter Raudsepp (Isamaa) issued an order on March 17. This will change the city's business and foundation councils.
For example, the chairman of Isamaa, Urmas Reinsalu, will become a member of the Tallinn Water Council. Ester Tuiksoo (Keskerakond) wants to be appointed as a member of the Tallinn Business Incubator Council. She has previously been convicted of taking bribes.
Vladimir Svet (Social Democrats) said this shows old habits. Previously, councils were filled with people useful to the parties.
Svet jokes that Tuiksoo and Reinsalu are not business experts. Reinsalu talks about Tallinn's water every day but is not actually involved with it.
Svet believes that the time when impartial specialists were elected to councils is now over.
New council members include, for example, Lauri Laats and Enno Tamm (Keskerakond), Veiko Lukmann and Jaanus Karilaid (Isamaa).
