Ukuaru Square was opened on September 12th. It was dedicated to Arvo Pärt's 90th birthday with a concert.
People noticed on social media that the "keys" on the square were incorrectly placed. These "keys" resembled a piano. They were also visible in a video introducing the music hall's design, where they were in the correct position.
When ERR inquired with the city government whether a mistake had been made during the construction of the square, they replied that no mistake had been made. The city government stated that the square was built according to the project and there was no error. It is an improvisation on the theme of a piano keyboard. The video introducing the music hall's design was merely an illustration.
Furthermore, less than two weeks later, repairs were made to the square. The city government said the builder acknowledged the mistake. Some "keys" were removed and replaced with new ones.
Ukuaru Square is part of the music hall construction project. A parking lot is being built beneath the square. The entire project will be completed early next year. The music hall is dedicated to Arvo Pärt and received funding from the Cultural Endowment as a nationally significant cultural building.
