The strike begins on Friday, September 18th. The strike will end when an agreement is reached or the strike leader gives an order.
The strike affects all Kihnu Veeteed ships. It includes the following routes: Munalaid–Kihnu, Munalaid–Manilaid, Rohuküla–Sviby, Sõru–Triigi, and Laaksaare–Piirissaare.
EMSA states that the reason for the strike is that Kihnu Veeteed is not discussing the collective agreement. The union has requested this many times.
Kihnu Veeteed made an agreement with another union. This union represents only six employees. Labor peace has now been broken.
Kihnu Veeteed's CEO Jaak Kaabel says they have raised employees' salaries. Kaabel does not know why the strike notice came now.
EMSA Chairman Jüri Lember claims that one point contains falsehoods. Such a point should not be included in the collective agreement.
Lember also says that the new collective agreement allows working 91 hours per week. This is unacceptable for EMSA.
EMSA represents 52% of Kihnu Veeteed ship employees.
