Vehicles of Germany's 4th Logistics Regiment are conducting a demonstration for the media. The Germans do not disclose how many soldiers and equipment are being moved. They are practicing the deployment of forces to the Baltic states in case of a crisis.
The strategic transfer of forces to Estonia occurred via rail and port. Heavy equipment arrived by ferry, while soldiers came by plane, said Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Eberhardt.
This week, command posts will be set up, and communications and logistics will be tested. So far, the Germans have conducted similar exercises in Lithuania and Latvia. This is their first time in Estonia.
In western Estonia, the Germans conducted reconnaissance and familiarized themselves with the terrain. The Estonian Defense Forces provided their bases for soldier accommodation.
The current exercise prepares for next year's large-scale drills in Lithuania and Latvia. It is unknown when the Germans will be seen in Estonia again.
