The first building to be renovated in Sillamäe is a four-story building located next to the bus station. The building is located at Kesk 63. This building was constructed in 1967. It contains 32 apartments.
According to Tatjana, a resident of the building, the renovation is necessary. The utilities have aged. There are many pensioners living in the building. Therefore, children or someone else must repay the loan.
Maria Bolšakova, the head of the housing association operating in the building, praised the residents. They were willing to pay a total of €1.28 million. There are other housing associations in Sillamäe, but they refused to participate.
The renovation will bring savings and make the building warmer. Currently, the building is full of cracks and is cold. The biggest problems are caused by the winds. A loan was taken for the roof and it was combined with a new loan.
The housing association Kesk 63 decided to opt for factory-produced panels. These panels will be attached to the existing building. Architect Priit Hamer drafted the solution sketch. After the renovation, the apartments will also have balconies.
Sillamäe's first fully renovated building is expected to be completed by the end of August this year.
