The Estonian government has received information about the Rail Baltica train purchase plan.
The goal of Rail Baltica is to create a fast connection from Tallinn to Warsaw. Local trains will help people travel quickly and comfortably.
Each new train can accommodate up to 200 passengers. The trains can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h.
The trains will feature business class, toilets, internet, comfortable seating, and bicycle spaces. Food will also be available for purchase.
The trains will primarily operate in Estonia but may also run to Riga. There are 12 stops between Tallinn and Häädemeeste.
The cost of five trains is approximately 60–75 million euros. Maintenance equipment will also be purchased for the depot.
Elron will announce the tender in the autumn. The first train will arrive in Estonia in 2029. All trains should be here by the first half of 2030.
