People are monitoring the residence of candidates and voters before the elections.
The National Electoral Commission has received more complaints than before. The complaints concern the place of residence.
Arne Koitmäe, head of the Electoral Commission, said there are 13 complaints. People are now paying more attention to where others live.
In February, the Supreme Court ruled that Elva municipality's application was incorrect. The municipality has no right to check residence data.
Isamaa complained that a person who does not permanently reside there is running in Elva. The court ordered the municipality to check the data.
Mairis Kungla, head of the Ministry of the Interior, said that local governments register the place of residence. They check whether the address is correct.
A person can live in multiple places in Estonia. They choose which address to register themselves.
In the October elections, voting will be based on data as of September 19. There is no significant election tourism.
Residence notifications are submitted slightly more than before, but this is not a major change.
Arne Koitmäe said that the definition of "permanent residence" is an old issue. Currently, the place of residence is considered to be what is in the population register.
