In 2024, a group in Estonia sought a company to manufacture bullets in Ämari. Three companies competed for the job: Nitrotol, ESTDEFIN, and Estonian Ammunition Plant.
Nitrotol emerged victorious. They secured a large area in Ämari to construct a temporary factory.
Estonian Ammunition Plant disagreed. They argued that Nitrotol produced mines, not bullets. They took the matter to court to halt the factory.
This week, the court ruled against them. It stated that Nitrotol had a better plan. Nitrotol began producing explosives in December. They tested their products a decade ago. Since 2019, they have been manufacturing military explosives.
Previously, Estonian laws prohibited the production of explosives locally. Nitrotol plans to expand its operations into a new area.
