Tarvi Pürn is the head of Tallinn Sports Center. He has to leave his position. His last working day is June 16.
Õhtuleht writes that Pürn is the second city sports manager who has to leave his position in recent months. Officially, it is said that his departure is an agreement with the employer. In reality, Pürn was told this week that continuing the employment relationship is not possible.
Pürn took office in February last year. He oversees Tondiraba Ice Hall, Lasnamäe Athletics Hall, Sõle Sports Center, Nõmme Swimming Pool, and other Tallinn sports facilities. One of his first actions was the dismissal of Jelena Glebova, head of Tondiraba Ice Hall.
Pürn and Hillar Sein were heads of the sports department. Both worked over the past year to make financial matters and working hour accounting in Tallinn transparent. Sein lost his job in the spring. Now Pürn also has to leave his position.
On Monday, the city government made it clear to Pürn that it is time for him to leave. The sports sector is led by Deputy Mayor Monika Haukanõmm. She was on vacation and did not comment on the matter. The messenger was Lennart Sundja, who heads the city's culture and sports department.
Pürn told Õhtuleht that this was his first meeting with Sundja. The request to terminate the employment relationship was unexpected for him. Haukanõmm did not comment on the matter because she is on vacation abroad and the issue concerns other people.
