Previously, dangerous patients were kept only in hospitals. Now they can also be kept in ambulances, at the doctor's office, or at the nurse's office.
A patient can be kept in three ways. First, they are held by hand. Second, restraints are used. Third, the patient is given medication.
Doctor Andres Lehtmets says that the new law is necessary. Some patients require a different type of treatment.
The doctor makes the decision. If there is no doctor, then the nurse makes the decision. Only a doctor can administer medication.
Restraint should be the last option. When it is done, everything is recorded. For example, who made the decision and how long the restraint lasted.
People receive training. They learn how to fill out documents. The patient is checked frequently.
The new law begins on July 1st.
