The Kosmos Cultural Center, which recently opened, is requesting €200,000 from the Ministry of Culture. This funding would help address technical issues and develop the center's program.

The Kosmos Cultural Center opened its doors on March 8th. The first event had a small audience. The center also lacked a website, and there was no information available about the events taking place there.
This week, a letter arrived at the Ministry of Culture from Rene Reinumägi, the director of Kosmos. He said that Kosmos is a unique place in Estonia's cultural landscape but needs financial assistance. Reinumägi requested €200,000 from the minister.
"This funding would help us fully launch Kosmos. We could improve the technology, develop the program, and offer better conditions for artists," said Reinumägi. He added that this would be a contribution to the development of Estonian culture.
Kosmos operates in the former Cinamon cinema building. Cinamon ceased operations there in 2022. Now, Cinamon is demanding the removal of its logos from the building's facade. The head of Cinamon said they are not demanding the removal of the "Kosmos" text, as it is part of Tallinn's history. Tallinn officials said that removing the "Kosmos" text is not allowed because it is an original part of the building.
The head of Cinamon said they do not want to destroy cultural activities but to ensure the rights of their trademarks. Cinamon and Kosmos trademarks were used at Kosmos events. Cinamon sent a notice to the center on March 17 and waited for a response until the end of March.
The owner of the Kosmos Cultural Center is the company Tähesüsteem. The building belongs to Kosmos Invest Kapital OÜ.
