The Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs suspended the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) and the Security Police Board (kapo) access to the enforcement register.
The reason is that these agencies do not use a data tracker. The data tracker shows a person who has viewed their data.
Public authority holders must connect their information system with a data tracker. This had to be done by October 1.
Since PPA and kapo did not do this, their access to the enforcement register was suspended. The ministry asked the registers center (RIK) to block the services.
Justice Minister Liisa Pakosta said that banking data is sensitive. Therefore, there must be security measures when viewing them.
The data tracker helps people control who views their data. The parliament allowed investigative agencies access only on this condition.
In the enforcement register, data can be queried if the investigative agency is connected to the data tracker. This ensures the person's control over the state.
The minister praised the Tax and Customs Board and bailiffs who joined the data tracker. They can continue to use the register.
However, PPA and kapo could not complete the software. Therefore, their access to the enforcement register has been suspended.
The enforcement register is the state's information exchange channel. It is used by credit and payment institutions. The service allows data to be queried and arrests to be made.
