The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MKM) has decided that the Safety Investigation Center will move to the premises of the Labor Inspectorate. This will help reduce real estate costs. In addition, the national conciliator will no longer use an office in the Old Town but will work in the premises of the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
The Safety Investigation Center is currently located on Tartu Road in the building of Riigi Kinnisvara AS (RKAS). They moved there in 2021. However, next year they will have to move to a new location. The new location is the premises of the Labor Inspectorate in Mustamäe.
MKM's communications officer Laura Laaster said that the government aims to reduce costs. This is one reason why MKM is looking for opportunities to reduce real estate costs. The Safety Investigation Center currently has 168 square meters of office space. In the new location, they will have only 75 square meters.
To accommodate the new tenant, the Labor Inspectorate has reduced its own space. The office of the national conciliator will also move to the premises of the Unemployment Insurance Fund. This means they will no longer use an office in the Old Town.
According to Laura Laaster, these changes will help the ministry save at least 20,000 euros annually. RKAS's communications officer Annely Jõgeva said that the Tartu Road building will remain in use. The space vacated by the Safety Investigation Center is intended for a new tenant.
Jõgeva added that the search for a new tenant will continue.
