The Kärla agricultural cooperative created an interesting maze on Saaremaa. This maze is shaped like Saaremaa. Faster walkers can complete the maze in an hour.
The coastline of Saaremaa is over 870 kilometers long. But the Saaremaa-shaped maze is only 1.7 kilometers long. Ülar Tänak, the head of the Kärla agricultural cooperative, said that the contours of Saaremaa were not made with a combine harvester. They had been hidden in the field for several months.
He also said that seeding and GPS technology help create such a field. Seeds were not sown around the maze and walking area. The farmers knew since spring that something special was coming. But they couldn’t have guessed it would be something so beautiful.
In the maze, you can quickly visit Panga cliff, Orissaare, and Kuressaare. The farmers didn’t foresee that the maze would become so popular. The parking lot was made small, but more cars keep coming.
A visitor named Hanna said she came to see the maze because it seemed interesting. Ülar Tänak thinks the maze may last until mid-October.
