Four-year study programs will be added to vocational education. The first year will have preparatory content, and later students will continue in their chosen field.
Vocational students will have the opportunity to acquire more general education subjects. This will help them continue to higher education after completing secondary education.
Employers want employees to acquire a broader worldview and better communication skills. This means that employees should understand the importance of their work and be ready to communicate with clients.
Vocational schools offer career services and help students find a suitable field. Each study group in the school has its own mentor who helps students understand their abilities and interests.
Some students may experience disappointment with their chosen field. In this case, it is possible to start studying again or enter the labor market without higher education.
The four-year study programs do not mean that all vocational education students need to study more general education subjects. Shorter vocational fields will remain available.
The four-year study programs are intended for those who want to work in a specific field and apply their skills. They are not intended for those who did not get into high school.
The first four-year study programs are already in progress. An additional 30 such programs will be added next autumn.
