Pakosta Appointed Priit Kama as Chairman of the Viru County Court
Justiits- ja digiminister Liisa Pakosta nimetas laupäeval Viru maakohtu uueks esimeheks Priit Kama.
Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa Pakosta appointed Priit Kama as the new chairman of the Viru County Court on Saturday.
Priit Kama has extensive experience in leadership. He has a clear plan on how to strengthen the Estonian state and Estonian-mindedness in Ida-Virumaa. Pakosta believes that under Kama's leadership, the Viru County Court will become even stronger and better. This is good for both employees and people who expect justice from the court.
Kama also has a doctorate in law. He has put a lot of effort into improving the work of the courts. He has deep knowledge specifically about Virumaa. Pakosta said that the Viru County Court itself supported Kama.
Kama said that he has worked in Virumaa for years. This region is very important to him. He promised to work for Estonian law in Virumaa.
The Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs appointed Kama as the chairman of the Viru County Court starting from June 17, 2025. He listened to the opinion of the Viru County Court and took into account the consent of the Council for Administration of Courts.
President Alar Karis appointed Kama as a judge in November 2021. Before that, Kama worked for 16 years at the Ministry of Justice as the Deputy Chancellor for Prisons.
