Minister of Culture Heidy Purga appointed Xenia Joost as the Deputy Chancellor of Creative Affairs at the Ministry of Culture. This decision was made based on the recommendation of the State Chancellery Commission. Xenia Joost will start her new position on June 2nd.
The Deputy Chancellor of Creative Affairs is responsible for several fields. These include, for example, architecture, design, film, theater, literature, media, art, and music. Kristiina Alliksaar, the Chancellor of the Ministry of Culture, stated that Xenia's experience and new ideas convinced the commission. She believes that Xenia will become a good partner both for the ministry and the cultural sector.
Xenia Joost said that she believes in working together with the cultural sector to increase the international significance of Estonian culture. She has previously led the brand of The Hague Natural Mineral Water. She has also contributed to the development of Estonian exports. For example, she worked as the head of the Asia region at the Enterprise and Innovation Foundation. She also has international experience in design management.
Xenia Joost holds a Master's degree from the Estonian Academy of Arts in the field of design and applied arts. She also has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Tartu in painting and from the Estonian Academy of Arts in fashion design.
