Eesti Konservatiivne Rahvaerakond (EKRE) valis oma kongressil uue esimehe ja muutis erakonna nime.
The Estonian Conservative People's Party (EKRE) elected a new chairman and changed the party's name at its congress.
EKRE elected a new chairman at its congress. Martin Helme was re-elected as the party's chairman. The congress also decided to change the party's name. The new name is now EKRE - Estonian Conservative People's Party.
430 members voted in favor of the name change. 7 members were against it. A two-thirds majority was required to change the name. Martin Helme said this was necessary because many people know the party by the name EKRE, but the official name was different.
Martin Helme was elected as the party's chairman with 432 votes in favor. One vote was invalid. Helme has been leading EKRE since 2020.
The congress also elected the party's new board, vice-chairmen, council, and audit committee. 11 people were elected to the board, including Mart Helme and Helle-Moonika Helme. Siim Pohlak, Arvo Aller, and Mart Helme were appointed as vice-chairmen.
The congress was an important event for the party. Important decisions about the future were made there.
