The 17-kilometer-long ice road is usually open between 8:30 AM and 5 PM. The last car may drive onto the ice at 4:30 PM. There are some rough spots on the ice road, and an ice bridge has been built over 2.8 km.
The ice road will remain open if everyone follows traffic regulations and rules. The road is maintained by Verston Eesti OÜ. The road may be closed in case of bad weather. The current status can be viewed on the TarkTee portal.
The ice road is open only during daylight hours. If visibility is less than 300 meters, the road will be closed. The recommended speed is up to 25 km/h or 40-70 km/h. Cars must drive in designated areas and follow the rules.
Vehicles must maintain a distance of at least 250 meters. Overtaking is not allowed. Seat belts must be fastened, and doors must be easy to open. Accelerating and stopping are not allowed.
Uneven areas must be crossed at low speed. Cars must not be left stationary on the ice road. Save the emergency service number on your mobile phone in case you need help.
The Transport Board warns that driving on ice roads that have not yet been opened is dangerous.
