Väätsa Kindergarten. In the spring, the children planted cucumbers and tomatoes. They placed the pumpkins by the fence. The summer was cool, but the plants grew well.
In August, the children ate the first vegetables. They ate them in the greenhouse. Teacher Marianne Tamme talked about it.
Today, the children ate salad. The salad was made from homegrown vegetables. The children remember how they grew the plants in the spring. Amanda said: 'I put the seed in the soil. I give it water. Then it grows.'
In the kindergarten, vegetables are eaten every day. The children eat apples, cucumbers, and tomatoes. They also take carrots from the garden bed.
The teachers and children love the garden. Teacher Kärt Sarapik said: 'We teach how the fruit grows. From the seed comes the fruit. It is tasty.'
Teacher Kersti Morel established a greenhouse. She is satisfied. 'Homegrown vegetables are better than store-bought ones. The children got to help with soil and water,' she said.
