Isamaa chairman Urmas Reinsalu says that economic forecasts show poor results. Since spring, economic growth has been much lower than previously predicted. Reinsalu criticizes the Reform Party for tax increases.
The Ministry of Finance and banks' forecasts show lower economic growth. In spring, a growth of 1.7% was predicted, now it's 0.8%. Swedbank and SEB forecasts have also declined. Tax increases are reducing economic growth and driving up prices.
Reinsalu says that tax increases are damaging the country. People's purchasing power is declining. He asks why it is shameless to implement so many tax hikes. Estonia is becoming the champion of tax burden in Central and Eastern Europe. The Prime Minister says that tax increases have resulted in more revenue. Reinsalu disagrees with this.
Reinsalu also criticizes the increase in VAT. He says it should have been abandoned. A study by the Ministry of Social Affairs shows that the cost of living is a major problem. Families' ability to have children is uncertain. The government's policy is worsening the demographic situation. The birth rate has fallen to a historically low level.
Reinsalu says that the government is destroying families' sense of security. The Reform Party is now talking about family policy. But in four months, parental benefits and maternity insurance will decrease. Reinsalu advises the government to analyze its measures and improve them.
