The Ministry of Finance has submitted a new draft law. Its aim is to help families with children and people using minibuses. The changes are expected to take effect this autumn.
Families with children will receive up to €100 in support per child. The support applies to children up to 18 years old. Parents or guardians will receive this support automatically. They don’t need to do anything themselves.
If both parents have a car, the support will be divided equally. For example, if one parent pays €30 and the other receives €70 in support, the total support will be €100. The Tax and Customs Board will recalculate the amounts automatically.
If a family has one car and one child, the tax may disappear. If a family has three children and two cars, the support may cover the entire tax.
Another change will help families and people with disabilities who use minibuses. 8- and 9-seater vehicles will now cost less. Previously, the tax consisted of three parts; now it consists of two parts. This will bring a significant tax reduction.
For example, the tax for a Renault Trafic could be €600–800 per year. After the change, the tax will only be €135–140 per year. This change will come into effect in 2026.
