Although there are still five months until the parliamentary elections, the first campaign tents are already ready. Major social media platforms do not allow political advertising, so parties are using outdoor campaigns. Major parties are spending millions of euros on this.
The weather is turning autumnal and there are many colorful party flags and tents on the streets. This shows that the political campaign has started earlier than usual. The Social Democratic Party says they want to come out earlier so people don't get tired.
Each party has a different budget for the campaign, but some are spending millions. Members are also contributing with personal money. For example, Isamaa members' contribution is about 10,000 euros.
The Center Party spends the most because their financial situation is not good. They focus on direct communication with people. Billboards are very expensive, for example one large billboard cost three and a half thousand euros.
Campaigns discuss various topics. As winter approaches, more focus is placed on home heating and family policy. People are also asked for their opinions on excise tax increases.
The biggest campaign starts at the beginning of the new year. Then the streets will be filled with politicians' posters and advertisements will be shown on television.
The Reform Party's campaign begins in the second half of October. We are also waiting to see if the Eesti 200 party will join with the Greens. EKRE focuses on participating in events.
