Anzori Barkalaja led the Viljandi Culture Academy from 2000 to 2015. Later, he worked as an advisor at the Ministry of Education and Research.
Ott Karulin was the editor-in-chief of Sirp and also worked at the State Chancellery. Last year, he became the head of the public administration department at the Ministry of Finance.
Kertu Saks was the head of the Cultural Endowment. She was also the director of the Estonian National Museum from December 2021 to March 2025.
The term of the previous director was supposed to end in the spring of 2025. However, Juko-Mart Kõlar left the position last summer due to a scandal. After that, the academy was led by Kadri Steinbach, who was the interim director and academic director.
The leaders of the University of Tartu colleges are elected by the university senate. This will take place on May 30. The new director will be elected for five years, and their term will begin on August 1.
