Elections usually have some spoiled ballots. This time, there were more than 2500 spoiled ballots.
In local elections, voters are more precise than in parliamentary elections. For example, the chairman of the Kohtla-Järve election commission said: "Local elections are more accurate. Several people said that these elections went very well."
Often people make mistakes with numbers on ballots. For example, the numbers 7 and 1 can be confusing. If an underline is written, it is not always clear whether it is a one or a seven.
In Kohtla-Järve, one voter wrote on the ballot that, in their opinion, none of the candidates deserved a place. In Saaremaa, there was one funny ballot spoiler among the average of 14,600 voters.
The commissions examine each ballot carefully. If the writer changes a number, the commission must decide whether it is understandable.
