Martin Herem met with the Eesti 200 parliamentary group. He discussed his plans as Defense Minister.
Eesti 200 group chairman Toomas Uibo said Herem answered questions well. Herem has extensive experience and knowledge. He knows how to improve the defense sector.
Uibo said Herem utilizes data and Ukraine's experience. We still lack sufficient knowledge on how to do certain things better. Herem will help improve this.
Herem also spoke about the war threat to the public. He said people should be aware of the dangers but should not be overly frightened. Intelligence data must be taken seriously.
Although the position of Defense Minister belongs to the Reform Party, Herem feels the support of Eesti 200. At the end of the meeting, they said they support him.
The meeting discussed Herem's previous work and background. He has ended ties with private business. Herem takes all questions seriously.
Herem said that once President Alar Karis confirms the decision, he will take the oath of office before the parliament. He wants to first look at inventory management deficiencies and improve them.
Herem plans to focus on three areas: the Baltic Sea, air defense, and the Baltic defense zone. He wants to further develop these sectors.
