The Reform Party is the largest party in the Riigikogu with 39 members. Eesti 200 now has 12 members. Together, the two parties have 51 members. The Riigikogu has 101 members in total.
51 members is not many. This means the government must be very united. If some members do not vote as the government wants, the government cannot win.
Some politicians believe that before the next elections, more members may leave. Then the government may lose its majority. The next elections are in 2027.
Stoicescu said he wants to run in the next elections. He may join another party. Most likely, he will join the Conservative People's Party (EKRE).
Stoicescu was the chairman of the National Defence Committee. The committee has 11 members. Previously, the government had 6 votes there. Now this has changed.
Prime Minister Kristen Michal said he wants Stoicescu to continue leading the committee. If Stoicescu joins the opposition, it is unclear whether he will support the government.
Another issue is the presidential elections. Stoicescu said he supports Ülle Madis. To be elected president, 68 votes are needed.
